The scientists set up camp, their tents are shredded in a storm and they shelter with a party of English sealers. Captain Robbins arrives on the Cumberland carrying a letter from Governor King. Baudin believes the Governor fears a French land grab. His suspicions are confirmed when the Union Jack is unfurled next to the French camp.
