Ile de France (Mauritius)15 March 1800 - 25 April 1800

Discontented and seasick, many crew desert including 10 of the 22 scientists. The island's French administration is obstructive and it takes too long to secure supplies. Baudin sails directly to Australia’s west coast, ignoring strict orders to survey Van Diemen’s Land first.
