The expeditioners are approached in a reef around Murray's Islands by over 40 Aboriginal people in canoes offering goods to barter. Flinders names Good's Island in the Torres Strait in honour of the expedition's gardener. On the island they find a species of silk-cotton plant that could be used in textile manufacture.
