Off the south coast of the continent they discover a body of land where kangaroos and seals dwell together. A sailor is bitten badly on the leg when he attacks a seal. Continuing east they chance upon the French expeditioner Baudin and his crew in Encounter Bay. In the name of science, the two parties raise the flag of truce and share information. Mr Brown acts as interpreter.
